Hopefully, this blog will help us keep all important information in one place. (I don't like to search through my inbox trying to find that one email from 3 months ago.)
1) Unit Plans and Classroom Management Plans: Dr. Anderson will be sending an email outlining her expectations for each of these. Basically, we should keep using the unit plan format(s) that we have been using. The classroom management plan will be an outline of how misbehavior is dealt with in your classroom. The purpose is to allow Dr. Anderson and Mr. Baskin to best support us.
2) Gym updates: The gym will be closed for re-finishing of the floor August 13-15. The PE teachers request advanced notice (no fewer than 5 days) when we need to use the gym for assemblies or any type of grade level specific meeting.
3) Transition to/from related arts: I confirmed with Ms. Winkowski that we will walk our students in nice, orderly lines to the RA area, and release students from our nice lines at 1:23. It was brought up that it has taken up to 10 minutes for students to trickle in to classes (in the past), and they have asked us to help make sure that all students are in their RA classroom no later than 1:25. So, we are going to have to be diligent about lining up on time, walking all the way to the RA area, and ushering students to their locations. I propose we station ourselves at certain points to make this happen. (See below.) Likewise, we need to be available to pick up students from RA at EXACTLY 2:25. and RA WILL release students in orderly lines. Let's try it out for a week and see how it goes.
Dennison and Blamey- near the band room/mariachi room
Prohaska: Corner of the "arts" hallway
Carr and Martinez: Cafeteria hallway
Braden, Kharif, Linning, and Blackstock: down the main 7th grade hallway, following students parade-style up to the gym.
For pick-up, same idea. Braden, Kharif, Linning, and Blackstock start at gym (half the kids are there) and start walking them towards hallway. Carr and Martinez station at the end of the cafeteria hallway and take their kids to their rooms. Dennison and Blamey hold back and usher on the stragglers (because we are loud and stuff) while Prohaska monitors our rooms? (I'll get feedback on this plan.)
4) Lockers: Baskin has the combo list- some locks got switched, so look out for that. We need to check the lockers we get assigned and empty the books before assigning. (We will have to wait for schedules to get adjusted so he knows numbers.)
5) Textbooks: We need to get the books for our HR class. (For example, 25 science, 25 math, 25 reading, etc.) and stack them up somewhere. A person will come to the room at some point to scan them to the kids. (More information TBA soon.)
6) We are not switching the entrances, so 7th grade will continue to enter at the main entrance.
7) Breakfast: we are leaving it like it was for now.
8) Lunch: We are now going at 12:15. We will work on a "stagger" schedule next week.
I know this is a lot of information, so please see me for any clarifications!
